Educational & Sports Qualification

1. Educational Qualification

  • Essential Qualification : Matriculation (10th class) or its equivalent from a recognized board.

  • Proof of Age/Education : Only the Matriculation certificate or Higher Secondary School Certificate will be accepted as proof of age.

2. Sports Qualification & Eligibility Period

Only players who have participated or won medals in eligible competitions during the period from 01 January, 2024 till 01 November, 2026 will be considered. The accepted levels of competition include :

  • International Competition :

    • Participation or medal-winning performance in an International Competition cleared by the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYA&S).

  • National Competition :

    • Representation of a State/UT in Senior or Junior National Championships organized by recognized National Sports Federations or National Games organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), with medals or positions up to 3rd place.

  • Inter-University Competition :

    • Representation of a University in Inter-University competitions conducted by the Association of Indian Universities / Inter-University Sports Board or Khelo India University Games, with medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.

  • Khelo India Games :

    • Representation of a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games (age category above 18 years) or Khelo India Winter Games, with medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.

How to Apply?

  • Step 1 : Check Eligibility : Verify that you meet the essential educational, age limits, and specific sports achievement criteria for the advertised discipline between 01/01/2024 and 01/11/2026 before applying.

  • Step 2 : Visit Website : Access the official ITBPF recruitment website at https://recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in during the application window open from 3rd October 2026 to 1st November 2026.

  • Step 3 : Create Profile & Upload Documents : Register on the portal, then upload scanned copies of your highest sports achievement certificate/document, photograph, and other required credentials to your profile before applying.

  • Step 4 : Fill Online Application : Carefully complete the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and sports discipline details as per the instructions.

  • Step 5 : Pay Application Fee : Male candidates belonging to UR, OBC, and EWS categories must pay the Rs. 100/- application fee online, while females, SC, and ST candidates are exempt.

  • Step 6 : Submit and Print : Submit the final application form online and take a clear, legible printout of the submitted form to bring along for subsequent recruitment stages.

Selection Process

  • 1. Documentation : Candidates must undergo identity verification (including biometrics) and produce all original documents/certificates—such as educational qualifications, age proof, caste/category certificates, and sports achievement certificates—for scrutiny by the Board of Officers.

  • 2. Physical Standard Test (PST) : Candidates who qualify through documentation will have their height, chest (for males), and weight measured against the prescribed physical standards.

  • 3. Sports Trial Test : Candidates will undergo a practical sports trial test specific to their advertised discipline, which is qualifying in nature (minimum qualifying cutoff is 20 out of 40 marks). (Note: This trial is exempted for candidates who have represented India as members of the national squad in international sports events cleared by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports).

  • 4. Merit List Preparation : A merit list is drawn up based on the grading of the candidates' highest sports medals or levels of participation as per the official scoring table.

  • 5. Detailed Medical Examination (DME) & Review Medical Examination (RME) : Shortlisted candidates based on merit are clinically assessed for medical fitness. Those declared unfit in DME are given the option to apply for a Review Medical Examination (RME).
