Serving and appointed teachers under panchayat and urban local bodies enjoy relaxed maximum age limits.

Relaxation in Upper Age for Regular Government Employees of Bihar

Regular government servants of Bihar are granted a 5-year relaxation in the maximum age limit to participate in competitive examinations, provided they have not exhausted a maximum of 5 attempts since the resolution dated 12 December, 2022.

Relaxation in Upper Age for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)

An additional 10-year relaxation in the maximum age limit is admissible to disabled candidates.

Relaxation in Upper Age for Ex-Servicemen

Relaxation is given for 3 years plus the length of service rendered in the defense services, provided their actual age does not exceed 57 years as of the application date.

Note 1

Litigants covered under the Supreme Court order dated 01.08.2025 in Raman Kumar Mandal & Ors. v. State of Bihar & Ors. (LPA No. 1030/2025) are eligible to participate as a one-time opportunity even if they have crossed the standard age limit.

Note 2

Candidates possessing an 18-month D.El.Ed degree from NIOS who were prevented from sitting in Advt. No. 22/2024 despite being eligible will have their maximum age calculated using the cut-off date of 01.08.2023 pursuant to the Supreme Court order dated 05.05.2025.

How to Apply?
One Time Registration (OTR) : Visit the BPSC online portal (`[https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in](https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in)`), click the New user Registration Button, and register using a valid active email ID and mobile number. Portal Login : Log in to your candidate dashboard using your created password along with your mobile number or email ID at `[https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in/candidate/login](https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in/candidate/login)`. Digilocker Integration : Link your DigiLocker account via the Meri Pehchan Portal by providing consent to OAMS, or use the browser's back button to proceed directly to the application portal. Personal Information (Step 1) : Enter your personal details, category, reservation details, disability status, sports details, ex-serviceman status, NCC cadet details, or government employee status, and click Save. Address Information (Step 2) : Fill in your permanent and correspondence addresses, or select Same as Above if they match, and click Save. Other Information (Step 3) : Disclose any pending criminal proceedings or conviction details if applicable, and click Save. Qualification Information (Step 4) : Enter your educational and professional qualifications starting from Class 10 onwards, click Add after each entry, and click Save. Experience Information (Step 5) : Provide your employment and work experience details if applicable by selecting Yes (or choose No), add the details, and click Save. Photo, Signature and Profile Lock (Step 6) : Capture your live photo using a webcam, upload scanned Hindi and English signatures (width 150-220 pixels, height 250-320 pixels, under 20KB), check the confirmation box, and click Submit and Lock Profile. New Application and Payment : Go to the New Application Tab, click Pay Fees, accept the terms, select your post and subjects, choose your payment gateway, review the preview, and complete the fee payment. Application Form Submission : After successful payment, click the Apply button under the active advertisement in the New Application Tab, click Proceed to Application, fill out the final form, and click Submit Application. Download and Print Hard Copy : Navigate to the My Account Tab after final submission to download and print the complete application form, ensuring that the Application Number, Application ID, and Bar Code are printed on every page.
Selection Process
Preliminary Examination : Candidates must first appear for and qualify in a 150-mark objective General Studies preliminary screening exam featuring 1/3 negative marking, five options, and category-wise minimum qualifying marks to be shortlisted for the main examination. Main Examination : Shortlisted candidates must appear for the objective main examination comprising 150 questions distributed across language qualification, general studies, and subject-specific parts with 1/3 negative marking and a duration of 2.5 hours. Merit List Compilation : The provisional merit list is generated based on main exam performance (Part II scores for classes 1-5, and combined Part II & III scores for classes 6-12), utilizing tie-breaking criteria like subject scores, language scores, age, and alphabetical order. Interview Phase : No interview round or personal interaction will be conducted for any candidate as part of the selection procedure. District Preference and Selection : Candidates must submit their preferences for up to 38 districts online during the application process, and final recommendations are allocated based on merit, category, and the submitted district choices.
