How to Apply?

  • Step 1 : One-Time Registration (OTR) - Access the official GDS online engagement portal at https://indiapost.gov.in/gdsonlineengagement, click on the Candidate Login/Register button, and select New Candidate Registration to fill out your contact details, personal information, and create a password using a verified mobile number and email ID.
  • Step 2 : Note Registration Number - Save the unique registration number generated upon successful completion of the OTR process, which will also be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID for future logins.
  • Step 3 : Online Application Login - Log in to the online system using your generated Registration Number and password during the active application submission window.
  • Step 4 : Fill Personal and Educational Details - Complete the application form sections by reviewing auto-populated personal data, selecting your 10th standard educational board, passing year, and entering your subject-wise marks or grades.
  • Step 5 : Select Division and Post Preferences - Choose your desired Postal Circle, select a specific Division, and indicate your priority preferences for the available vacant posts based on your community, age, and local language qualifications.
  • Step 6 : Upload Photograph and Signature - Upload your recent passport-size photograph (30 KB to 100 KB in JPG/JPEG format with a 4:5 aspect ratio) and scanned signature (20 KB to 100 KB in JPG/JPEG format with a 5:2 aspect ratio on white background).
  • Step 7 : Preview Application Form - Check the complete application preview carefully to ensure all entered details, uploaded images, and choices are correct before final submission, noting that changes cannot be made later.
  • Step 8 : Pay Examination Fee - Pay the non-refundable fee of Rs. 100/- via online modes using credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI, keeping in mind that female, SC, ST, PwBD, and transwomen candidates are fully exempted from payment.
  • Step 9 : Final Submission and Print - Submit the application form securely on or before the closing deadline and print/save a copy of the final submitted form for your records and subsequent engagement processes.

Selection Process

  • Merit List Generation : Shortlisting is conducted automatically via a system-generated merit list calculated from 10th-standard marks to four decimal places.

  • Result Publication & Notification : Shortlisted candidates are announced on the portal and notified via SMS or email, requiring them to regularly check the official website.

  • Document Verification Reporting : Candidates must report to the designated Divisional or Unit Head within 15 days of shortlisting along with original documents and self-attested photocopies.

  • Provisional Engagement Offer : The Engaging Authority physically verifies original credentials, and if verified successfully, issues a system-generated provisional engagement offer immediately.

  • Pre-Engagement Formalities Completion : Selected candidates must finish pre-engagement requirements—including a 3-day basic training and accommodation arrangements—within 30 days of the provisional offer.

  • Provisional Order Issuance : The Engaging Authority issues a provisional order allowing candidates to join pending final verification reports from issuing authorities and police antecedent checks.

  • Final Engagement Regularization : Final regular orders are issued to regularize the GDS engagement upon receipt of successful verification and antecedent reports.
