Cheers, tears as Indore family welcomes first baby girl in 52 years. Watch

Prayers, anxious faces and a long wait outside an operation theatre ended in hugs, tears and loud applause after a family in Indore welcomed its first baby girl in 52 years.

The emotional moment was captured in a video shared on Instagram by Indore-based obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Bela Shah Jain, who documented the family's reaction as they waited outside the operation theatre for news.

The video shows relatives standing outside the OT with folded hands, praying and waiting anxiously. Moments later, Dr Jain walks out carrying the newborn in a cradle. As the family realises the baby is a girl, they break into cheers and applause.

Overcome with emotion, several members hug the doctor before embracing one another, with many seen wiping away tears as they celebrate the long-awaited arrival.

"Sometimes, miracles take generations. After 52 years of welcoming only boys, this family has finally been blessed with a baby girl. A day that will be remembered forever," Dr Jain wrote in the caption of the post.

The clip prompted an outpouring of reactions online, with many users saying it was heartening to see a family celebrating the birth of a daughter with such enthusiasm.

One user wrote, "It always makes my heart so full and happy when a family anticipates a baby girl with the same fervour as a baby boy. It's been years and decades, and I know times have changed, but it still makes me so happy."

Another user related the moment to their own family, writing, "I was also the first girl child born in four generations of my family, and even now, no other baby girl has been born."

The video left several viewers emotional as well: "I don't know why I cried, but I felt it in my soul. Manifesting this for me."

Many others celebrated not just the newborn's arrival but also the family's heartfelt reaction, which they said reflected changing attitudes towards the birth of daughters.
