Jana Nayagan box office collection day 5: Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil movie almost trips on first Monday with 68% drop

Jana Nayagan Box Office Collection Day 5: Jana Nayagan marked Thalapathy Vijay's last movie before getting into full-time politics. It debuted on July 23 with mixed reviews from both critics and the audience. The movie's box office performance seems to have been impacted by the response.

Following the weekend, Jana Nayagan saw a notable decline in its box office collection. According to Sacnilk, it saw a 68% drop on Monday, bringing in Rs 10.15 crore across all languages. As a result, the Tamil movie's total domestic net collection is now close to reaching Rs 150 crore, at about Rs 134 crore.

Jana Nayagan made a respectable debut, earning over Rs 42 crore on its first day. On its second day, the movie made about Rs 21 crore, a steep 50% decline. Over the weekend, it bounced back, earning Rs 28.90 crore on Saturday and Rs 32 crore on Sunday.

On Monday, the Tamil version filled about 33% of seats overall, picking up best during the evening (40%) and night shows (36%). The Telugu version saw 17.4% attendance overall, with afternoon shows doing best at nearly 20%.

The Hindi version had the lowest turnout at 12.5%, though its night shows performed best at 17.5%.

Jana Nayagan, which was directed by H. Vinoth, was supposed to be released in January, but it was postponed since it was unable to obtain CBFC certification in time. Vijay took the oath of office as the state's chief minister after his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), won the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections during the interim.
