As Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt begin a new chapter together, several old interviews of the actor have resurfaced online. One particular conversation has caught attention because it shows how deeply Aamir’s views on love, companionship and marriage had changed after Gauri came back into his life.
For years, Aamir had openly said that marriage was no longer something he was looking for. Having been married twice before, the actor had reached a point where he felt that finding a life partner again, especially at his age, seemed unlikely. But that belief slowly shifted after he reconnected with Gauri Spratt, whom he had known from many years ago.
During his appearance on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast, Aamir spoke about how he once believed that marriage was not in the cards for him. When asked what changed, the actor gave an honest answer and credited Gauri’s presence in his life.

He said, “Gauri, vo mujhe mili kyunki uss wakt mujhe laga tha ki ab main, meri umar bhi ho gai hai. Ab iss umar me main kahan dhundunga kisi aur ko.” Explaining the thought behind it, Aamir shared that he had reached a stage where he felt he was too old to look for someone new or build that kind of bond again.
The actor also revealed that this period coincided with an important phase in his personal growth. He added, “Meri therapy bhi shuru ho gai thi tab tak, toh mujhe samajh me aa gaya tha ki yaar actually mujhe apne aap ko healthy banana hai. Aur jo mai pyaar karun, pehle apne aap se karun. Self-love and self-respect, uspe maine dhyaan dena shuru kiya.”
What this really means is that Aamir’s change of heart was not only about meeting Gauri. It was also about him understanding himself better. Through therapy, he began working on self-love, emotional health and self-respect. That inner shift allowed him to approach love from a healthier place.
Aamir also spoke warmly about his former wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao. He shared that he continues to share a close bond with both of them. However, after his second marriage ended, he felt he may never again find someone with whom he could share a similar emotional connection.
That changed when Gauri came into his life again. Aamir shared that the two had known each other nearly 25 years ago and met again “by mistake.” What began as a renewed connection slowly grew into something deeper. At the time, Aamir had believed, “Mujhe ek partner ki zarurat nai hai.” But despite that, love happened naturally.
For the unversed, Aamir was first married to Reena Dutta in 1986. The two parted ways in 2002 and share two children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, and the couple welcomed their son Azad Rao Khan in 2011 via surrogacy. Aamir and Kiran announced their separation in 2021 on good terms.
