As the award recognises the excellence of the footballer who has delivered standout performances throughout the season, some of the big heavyweights have emerged as leading contenders. Among the many, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Lamine Yamal, and Harry Kane are being considered as the most deserving for the individual prize. Since there will only be one winner, fans on social media are busy analysing options and predicting the winner. While a plethora of assertions have flowed in, one particular post predicting the winner has garnered massive attention, as it has been made by the same handle that correctly predicted the previous two winners of the prestigious award.

French superstar and Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has a leading claim for the award, as statistically he had the best 2025-26 season.
